I recently got this DM from a follower saying:
“Hey, Amber! How do you turn likes and views on your Reels into followers? I’ve seen good reactions so far, but not much growth! ππ”
And I’m super happy this person decided to reach out ‘cause I’ve been DYING to talk about this topic.
More than any other feature on Instagram, Reels can help you reach NEW audience members and potential followers with your content. π₯ π₯
When you make Reels with your ideal client in mind, there is a LOT a huge opportunity for growth.
But how can you be sure that Reels will reach the right audience AND encourage people to actually give you their follow?

Ok, I get it, I know you’re probably thinking:
“Amber, are you really gonna tell me to include a call to action in my posts? That’s like the most basic piece of social media advice ever! πππ”
I hear ya!
But what I’ve noticed is that with Reels, content creators are neglecting to include their call to action in every possible way.
That includes in the audio, in the video, AND in the caption.
And yes - you can always go ahead and say “Give me a follow!”
But I want you to be even more specific than that.
Give new audience members an idea of exactly what you want them to do. β β
You can ask them to join the conversation in the comments, check out the Q&A highlight on your profile, or even send you a DM.
You may already have tons of experience coming up with fantastic calls to action for your posts.
But I am begging you not to get caught up in the fun of jumping on the most recent trends without carefully considering your call to action for each and every Reel.
The more your audience is compelled to take action after watching your reel, the more likely they’ll be to hit that follow button and stick around for your next great piece of content. β‘ β‘ β‘
Ok, obviously the main focus of Reels is the π₯ video content π₯
But in order to convert viewers into followers, you have to make use of all the Reels features!
So get familiar with everything Reels has to offer.
There’s nothing that scares off new followers like a poorly made reel. π¬
Learning your way around a new medium shows that you know what you’re doing.
Become an expert at editing your videos to look clean, and getting your audio to sync up perfectly.
Get used to writing captions for your Reels with an intriguing headline that fits in the tiny caption space and actually makes people want to read more!
Don’t get too comfortable with what you know about Instagram.

Make sure your Reels content reflects your level of expertise and your new audience members will be followers in no time! β

β¨ It’s funny, you look gorgeous and it goes VIRAL.
β¨ Thousands of views, likes, comments, and shares.
But when those new viewers click through to view your account…it’s an absolute mess! π΅π΅ π΅
They’re gonna be like “Weird…guess they’re a one-hit-wonder.”
And they’re gonna scroll past.

Make sure that you’re Instagram profile is top-notch so that every new audience member is smashing that follow button the minute they arrive.
When was the last time you sat down and took a good hard look at what your audience sees when they visit your profile? π€
